Biography
Edwin J. White
Rev. Edwin J. White served as minister of First Presbyterian Church, Edmonton, for twenty-five years, from 1950 to 1975. After Rev. D. G. McQueen's 43 years, his is the longest ministry in the congregation's history.
As minister he moderated the Kirk Session, and he is seated in the front row of the Session photographed on November 24, 1968. The congregation marked his quarter-century of service with a bronze plaque bearing his portrait in relief, "dedicated to commemorate twenty-five years of devoted Christian ministry by Rev. Edwin J. White, B.A., D.D., in First Presbyterian Church, Edmonton, Alberta, 1950–1975." It hangs in the church today.

So far this profile rests on the church's own plaque and Session photograph. His birth and death dates, where he trained, where he served before and after Edmonton, and when and from where he received his Doctor of Divinity have not yet been found. Kenneth Munro's First Presbyterian Church, Edmonton: A History (2004) and the Session minutes held by The Presbyterian Church in Canada Archives should supply them. Corrections and additions are welcome.
